Black Point Boat Launch

• Launch your motor boat, kayak, canoe, or paddle board from the high-freeboard dock or boat ramp.
• Anglers can catch striped bass, mud shrimp, and sturgeon. If you plan to fish from a boat or the shore, don't forget your fishing license.
• Upstream, the river leads to wetlands and farmlands. Downstream, the river connects with the San Pablo Bay Wildlife Area.
• Bring your binoculars. Waterfowl, shorebirds, raptors, and songbirds are on view throughout the year.
• Dock, path, and restrooms are ADA accessible.
• Blackpoint is a designated trailhead on the San Francisco Bay Area Water Trail.
• Fish cleaning station, and boat hose are available.
• Friendly dogs on leash are welcome.

• A fishing license is required if you fish from a boat or the shore. No license required to fish from the dock.
• Check weather and tides before setting out. Winds and currents can be strong.
• To avoid disturbing sensitive ecosystems, boaters must maintain a 50-foot distance from marshland habitat.
• Marin County Environmental Health Services (EHS) tests water once a week from April 1 through October 31, for California water quality standards for recreational water contact. For details, visit EHS Water Quality Testing.

Blackpoint Boat Launch is located at 148 Harbor Drive, Novato. From Hwy 101 in Novato, take exit 460A for Napa/Vallejo (Hwy 37) east 2.6 miles. Take the Atherton Ave exit towards Black Point, merge onto Harbor Dr, and follow for 0.7 miles. The boat launch is on the right, under the bridge.

A small parking lot sits underneath Highway 37. A larger lot is available across from Harbor Drive and the launch area. Unless otherwise noted, parking fee is $5.

If you have a Marin County library card, you can check out a free library park pass from any Marin County Free Library.

The annual park pass provides access to all Marin County parks and facilities that charge an entrance or parking fee. The pass is valid for one year. For more information read the Annual Park Pass FAQ.

• A valid parking permit must be displayed on the dashboard of parked vehicles at all times. Purchase a parking permit at the park pay station or buy an annual park pass.
• Fish responsibly. Fishing is subject to the rules of the California Department of Fish and Game, California Department of Fish and Wildlife, and Marin County Parks. Fishing license may be required.
• Dispose of fish parts and excess bait in trash containers. Do not pollute the waters.
• Shoreline fishers yield to boats and water craft.
• Protect sensitive ecosystems. Once launched, keep watercraft at least 50 feet from shoreline.
• Hold your pole – do not set lines. Two poles maximum per person.
• For safety, walk only on docks and piers. Do not run.
• Be peaceful. No loud noise or amplified music.
• Dogs must be on a leash. Leash must not exceed 6 feet in length.
• Individuals accompanying dogs are required to clean up and dispose of pet waste.
• Keep the boat launch litter-free. Use garbage cans provided, scoop dog poop, and carry out all your belongings.
• Do not disturb wetlands or wildlife.
• No fires, no smoking.
• No firearms or weapons of any kind.
• No operating or landing aircraft of any kind, including drones.
• No camping or overnight stays.
