The five elected members of the Board of Supervisors that govern the County of Marin also serve as the Marin County Open Space District Board of Directors. Because it is a special district per the California Public Resources Code, the Marin County Open Space District (MCOSD) requires its own governing board. Meetings are held as needed in conjunction with Board of Supervisors meetings.
The seven-member Parks and Open Space Commission (POSC) advises the Board of Supervisors on policies relating to acquisition, development, funding, management, and operation of county parks and open space. Regular meetings are held the third Thursday in January, March, May, July, September, and November.
In 2022, Marin County voters approved re-implementation of a one-quarter cent sales tax to benefit parks, open space, and agricultural lands. Seven committee members monitor Measure A expenditures, oversee an annual financial audit, and approve an annual report. Regular meetings are held on the second Thursday in February and November.
The nine-member Integrated Pest Management Commission oversees Marin County's Integrated Pest Management policy and plan, and advises and makes recommendations to Parks' IPM Coordinator and the Board of Supervisors. Regular meetings are held the fourth Friday of January, April, July and October.
Bolinas Lagoon Advisory Council (BLAC) advises the Board of Supervisors, the Marin County Open Space District board, and Marin County Parks on the management and ecological restoration of Bolinas Lagoon.
The CSA #16 Advisory Board advises Parks staff and the Board of Supervisors on projects and programs that can be conducted with funding from the budget of CSA #16, and that affect County lands within the boundaries of CSA #16. Regular meetings are held on the second Thursday in February and September.
The CSA #18 Advisory Board advises Parks staff and the Board of Supervisors on projects and programs that can be conducted with funding from the budget of CSA #18, and that affect County lands within the boundaries of CSA #18. Regular meetings are held twice a year, generally in February and September.
The CSA #20 Advisory Board advises Parks staff and the Board of Supervisors on projects and programs that can be conducted with funding from the budget of CSA #20; and that affect County lands within the boundaries of CSA #20. This Board meets at least once a year.
The CSA #33 Advisory Board advises Parks staff and the Board of Supervisors on projects and programs that can be conducted with funding from the budget of CSA #33, and that affect County lands within the boundaries of CSA #33. Regular meetings are held twice a year, generally during the second week of March and October.
